What are you afraid of?
- Number 13- Triskadekaphobia. Wouldn't this be fear of Triscuits?
- Asymmetrical things- Asymmetriphobia.
- Puppets- Pupaphobia. Sounds like fear of puppies.
- Church- Ecclesiophobia.
- Dining or dinner conversations- Deipnophobia.
- Teenagers- Ephebiphobia. I think I have this.
- Color purple- Porphyrophobia.
- Phobias- Phobophobia. Duh.
- Friday the 13th- Paraskavedekatriaphobia.
- Tickled by feathers or feathers- Pteronophobia.
- Infinity- Apeirophobia.
- Long words- Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia or Sesquipedalophobia. The fear that dare not speak its name.
- Mother-in-law- Pentheraphobia.

LOL! #12 seriously??! I think it's so cruel to have such a long word as a name for the fear of long words!!

I am wondering what fear of mispronouncing other fears would be? Great list.
Posted by: Kristen | March 12, 2009 at 07:15 AM
Huh, I can't imagine being afraid of a color, but I guess there are people who are. Something to ponder. Happy TT!

Cute list! I think Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia and Ephebiphobia are my favorites.
Posted by: Tricia | March 12, 2009 at 08:48 AM
I definitely have that last one! I try to avoid my mother in law at all costs!
Posted by: Leigh | March 12, 2009 at 09:07 AM
Phobophobia? I'll have to remember that.

#s 2 & 4, I know people like that!
I can't imagine being afraid of purple, but I guess with enough trauma it could happen.

I wonder what a phobia of phobias is called? :)
Posted by: Carmen | March 12, 2009 at 10:52 AM
*lol*
I'm feeling a bit tongue-tied after attempting to read all that.
My son's birthday fell on Friday the 13th last month.
My T13 is a list of the Top 13 players in my online trivia game. Check it out, you might want to play too. :)
Hope you have a terrific Thursday!

I couldn't find an official term for my phobia, so I'll just have to call it: "Fear of Mold."

I have #12 for sure!
Posted by: Janet | March 12, 2009 at 03:37 PM
Okay, that's weird...
"Color purple - Porphyrophobia."
Right away, I thought... Purple is considered a Royal colour... and the current royal family in Britain are known to have the genetic issue named Porphyria... which is what made King George III so... um... colourful! I hadn't noticed the name of the disease contains the Greek/Latin name for Purple... and the Royal colour deal... although Porphyria does turn urine into a dark colour... but I like the "royal" thing anyway.
I'm babbling, aren't I?

Betty: I know! And think about how painful it would be to explain your fear to your shrink.
Anni: I think #12 is great too, but then I don't have it.
Kristen: I looked for fear of mispronouncing words but came up empty. Suggestions?
Brenda: Believe it or not, there are fears of all sorts of colors:
Color red or blushing- Erythrophobia, Erytophobia or Ereuthophobia.
Color yellow- Xanthophobia.
Color white- Leukophobia.
Colors- Chromophobia or Chromatophobia.
Black- Melanophobia.
Go figure.
Now personally, I have a fear of how terible I look in beige, but that's well founded and reasonable.
Tricia: Yeah, I got a lot of votes for Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. My favorite is Triskadekaphobia (thank goodness for Copy and Paste).
Leigh: Well founded.
Alice: A bit existential, isn't it?
Becky: Are most phobias caused by traumas? Makes sense.
Carmen: See above.
Stacy: My sister's birthday falls on the 13th, but I've always heard that makes it a lucky day for you.
JD: Will Mycophobia do? It's fear of mushrooms, which technically are fungi.
Janet: I've gotten a lot of votes for #12.
Matthew: No, please, keep explaining. I had no idea the Royal Family had such an affliction. I thought the buck stopped at hemophilia.

Friday the 13th doesn't worry me,
but puppets?
Those Muppets scare the bejesus out of me
Posted by: Grandmother Wren | March 12, 2009 at 09:09 PM
I love running into my friends at other blogs - Grandmother Wren made me laugh! Fear of muppets - heh. And fear of triscuits! Great TT! I'm up at both CoffeeBreak and at Everyday Tarot. Drop by if you haven't!

'The fear that dare not speak its name.' - LOL!
Posted by: julia | March 13, 2009 at 10:37 AM
Wren: Are Muppets kind of like clowns? I hate clowns. By the way, coulrophobia is the fear of clowns.
Chameleon: It is fun running into the same people, isn't it?
Julia: It is a preposterous name for a fear of long words, isn't it?

Gosh, love this list! Excellent!
